Democrats, new accusers put pressure on Kavanaugh before Ford’s testimony

Washington, Sep 26 (EFE).- Democratic lawmakers and the emergence of new accusations of sexual abuse are raising the pressure on Brett Kavanaugh, President Donald Trump’s nominee for the vacant Supreme Court seat, one day before one of his alleged victim testifies before the Senate.

On Wednesday, an attorney released a sworn statement by a third woman who claims that the Kavanaugh was present decades ago when several young men raped her and that he participated in group abuse of women during a party.

“In approximately 1982, I became the victim of one of these ‘gang’ or ‘train’ rapes where Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh were present,” Julie Swetnick said in her sworn statement, referring to Kavanaugh’s friend from those years, although she did not say that either Judge or Kavanaugh participated in the rape.

“Shortly after the incident, I shared what had transpired with at least two other people. During the incident, I was incapacitated without my consent and unable to fight off the boys raping me. I believe I was drugged using Quaaludes or something similar placed in what I was drinking,” Swetnick said.

Swetnick joins two other women who had already related different alleged incidents of Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual misconduct – Christina Blasey Ford, who will appear before the Senate on Thursday to tell her story, and Deborah Ramirez.

The third woman said in her affidavit that “I also witnessed efforts by Mark Judge, Brett Kavanaugh and others to cause girls to become inebriated and disoriented so they could be ‘gang raped’ in a side room or bedroom by a ‘train’ of numerous boys.”

“I have a firm recollection of seeing boys lined up outside rooms at many of these parties waiting for their ‘turn’ with a girl inside the room. These boys included Mark Judge and Brett Kavanaugh,” she stated.

These new accusations were categorically rejected by Kavanaugh in a statement released by the White House.

Trump wasted no time in calling the new accusation “false,” going on to call Swetnick’s lawyer – Michael Avenatti – “a third rate lawyer who is good at making false accusations, like he did on me and like he is now doing on Judge Brett Kavanaugh.”

Avenatti is also the attorney for porn actress Stormy Daniels – real name Stephanie Clifford – who is engaged in a legal battle with the president over an alleged affair that they had more than a decade ago.

Meanwhile, the Democratic opposition – who have tried to delay Kavanaugh’s Senate confirmation process from the start – redoubled their efforts to derail his candidacy and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer called for his nomination to be withdrawn.

“I strongly believe Judge Kavanaugh should withdraw from consideration,” Schumer tweeted. “If he will not, at the very least, the hearing and vote should be postponed while the FBI investigates all of these allegations.”

According to Ford, who will testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee about her allegation against Kavanaugh on Thursday, the now-judge was 17 and she was 15 when he, while drunk at a house party, tried to force himself on her, covering her mouth to silence her protests, although she managed to escape from him.
